Lingcod & Halibut Provide Outstanding Action

East Bay Saltwater:Anglers departing from the Berkeley Marina are finding epic action while targeting lingcod and halibut.
Captain James Smith of California Dawn Sportfishing has been putting his client on limits of lingcod while fishing the north coast from Point Reyes to Duxbury. The average ling goes 8 pounds and the largest fish range up to 28. Mooching live or frozen bait has been the most consistently productive approach, but hardware and swimbaits are hooking fish too.
Inside the bay, Captain Jonathan Smith of Happy Hooker Sportfishing has been working the central bay for halibut with very good success when he’s not chasing lingcod and rockfish outside the gate. Most of the fish are 6 to 10 pounds, but the action is very good once you find the fish.
